Capsule

The capsule, too, plays a role in the purchase or sale of wine. Expensive and rare wines are often bought from collectors. If the capsule has been damaged, corroded or even removed, the value of the bottle immediately drops. The capsule can likewise provide clues as to how the wine was stored. For example, a corroded capsule could indicate a very humid or poorly ventilated cellar.
